Alliant is seeking a Developer Intern to join its technology team. This associate will join the Development team and be responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of software to support and enhance a variety of web-based and console applications in a fast-paced big data marketing services environment.


The successful candidate for this position will be detail-oriented and be involved in all aspects of data analysis and quality. He/she will analyze data collection plans and coordinate various data systems, implement data collection, processing, and analysis tactics, and provide consultation on design of data processing systems, which includes specifying needed output, required input and the methods of validation and quality control. This is a tremendous opportunity for an individual with a career interest in data-driven marketing who wants to be a key member of a highly energized and innovative team.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Participate in peer code reviews to improve the quality of code written by other team members
  • Assist in the creation of new applications or updating existing applications based on user requirements
  • Debug computer code to fix errors and improve performance
  • Test software for bugs or other issues that may affect functionality or the user experience
  • Review documentation about new technology releases or product updates to ensure understanding of how the new system works
  • Conduct research on new technologies and techniques to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing needs of internal and external customers
  • Coordinate resource scheduling and communications on behalf of the Application Development team
  • Work well under pressure while exhibiting a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Enforce SDLC Best Practices related to Change Control and Release Management

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be a critical thinker and problem-solver capable of strict attention to detail
  • Ability to work, test and deploy in both Linux and Windows environments
  • Java / Python or other high-level language programming experience
  • Linux shell and Windows batch programming experience
  • Superior organization, documentation, and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and writing skills
  • Working knowledge of data management practices and standards in a marketing environment, or related coursework a plus
  • Experience with any ETL platform, Hadoop, matching tools a plus
